1. Preparation of Raw Materials
The main raw material used in PVA glue production is polyvinyl acetate resin. Other additives such as plasticizers, thickeners and preservatives are also added to improve the quality of the final product.
2. Emulsion Polymerization
The PVA resin is dissolved in water along with other additives and a surfactant to form a stable emulsion. The emulsion is then heated under controlled conditions while continuously stirring. This process triggers a chemical reaction known as polymerization, which causes the PVA resin to form long polymer chains.
3. Neutralization and Adjustment of pH
Once the polymerization is complete, the pH of the emulsion is adjusted to the desired level by adding an alkaline solution. This is necessary to neutralize any residual acidity in the emulsion and stabilize the glue.
4. Filtration and Concentration
The emulsion is then filtered to remove any impurities or particles that may affect the quality of the final product. The filtered emulsion is then concentrated to the desired solids content by evaporating water from the mixture.
5. Quality Control
The concentrated PVA glue is then subjected to various tests to ensure that is meets the required quality standards. Tests may include viscosity, adhesive strength, pH and stability tests.
6. Packaging
Finally, PVA glue is packaged in suitable containers for distribution and storage.
