Vulcanization refers to the process of adding cross-linking aids such as vulcanizing agents and accelerators to rubber to convert linear macromolecules into a three-dimensional network structure under certain temperature and pressure conditions. Since sulfur was first used to achieve cross-linking of natural rubber, it is called vulcanization.
