Sigma Mixer Working Principle
Sigma mixer uses two sets of ∑-shaped blades rotating in opposite directions to mix materials. The two sets of blades interact with each other in the mixing chamber, generating strong shear force and flow force, so that the materials are quickly and evenly mixed in the relatively static mixing tank. Generally, sigma mixer is used to process materials with high viscosity, such as adhesives, paints, plastics, fertilizers, foods, etc.
What is the difference between sigma mixer and other mixers (such as double planetary mixer)?
  • Sigma Mixer
    Sigma mixer use two sets of ∑-shaped blades rotating in opposite directions, which is suitable for mixing high viscosity materials. Sigma mixer is mainly used for uniform mixing of materials such as adhesives, glues and rubber. Sigma mixer's ∑ design provides strong shear force, which is suitable for heavy-load, long-term high viscosity mixing.
  • Double Planetary Mixer
    It has multiple adjustable mixing heads and is suitable for handling materials with lighter viscosity. It is mainly used for mixing light-load materials such as food, cosmetics and inks. Double planetary mixer can generate multi-directional stirring forces, but compared with sigma mixer, it has weaker shear forces and is suitable for materials with lower viscosity.

Sigma Mixer Capacity and Applicable Scale
1. Material Viscosity: High viscosity materials require greater stirring power, so larger equipment may be required.
2. Production Scale: Choose the appropriate capacity based on the size of the production batch. JCT can provide 5L sigma mixer for small-scale laboratories; the capacity for large-scale production can reach 200L-2000L, and can also be customized according to customer needs.
3. Energy Consumption and Efficiency: Larger sigma mixer can handle larger batches of materials, but may require higher energy consumption and longer mixing times, so a balance needs to be found between production efficiency and energy consumption.

Sigma Mixer Maintenance
  • 1. Regularly Check the Blades and Mixing Chamber

  • Check for wear, deformation or damage, and ensure that the gap between the blades and the chamber wall is appropriate to prevent uneven mixing.

  • 2. Lubrication System Maintenance

  • Regularly check and replace the lubricating oil of bearings, gearboxes, etc. to keep the mechanical parts running smoothly.

  • 3. Cleaning

  • After mixing, the mixing chamber and blades need to be thoroughly cleaned to prevent material residue and affect the production of the next batch.

  • 4. Check the Electrical System

  • Ensure that the electronic control system is working properly, repair faults in time, and avoid sudden shutdowns.
