1. Acetic Anhydride Esterification Reaction
One of the main raw materials of the DOP plasticizer is acetic acid, and the acetic anhydride esterification reaction is the primary step in the production of DOP. In this step, acetic acid and n-octanol react to form di-n-octyl acetate (DOP). The reaction is usually carried out in the presence of an acidic catalyst.
2. Acid Value Adjustment
The acid value of DOP may need to be adjusted to meet the quality requirements of the final product. This can be achieved by adding appropriate amounts of acidic or alkaline substances.
3. Decolorization
In order to improve the purity and appearance of DOP, decolorization is usually required. This may involve using activated charcoal or other decolorizing agents to remove impurities and color.
4. Dehydration
Through the dehydration step, the moisture in the dop is removed to ensure the stability and quality of the final product.
5. Filtration and Refining
Use filtration equipment and other purification steps to further remove residual solid impurities and improve the purity of DOP.
6. Product Storage
Finally, the pure DOP is stored and can be piped or otherwise delivered to processes that require the use of plasticizers.
