1. Base Oil
Base oil usually accounts for 70%-90% of grease. It is the main component of grease and provides lubricity and fluidity. Base oil is generally made of mineral oil, synthetic oil (such as polyphaolefin, ester oil, etc.) or vegetable oil.
2. Thickener
Thickener is one of the key components of grease and determines the consistency and stability of grease. Common thickeners include:
• Soap-based Thickeners: such as calcium soap, lithium soap, aluminum soap, etc., are the most commonly used thickeners.
• Non-soap-based Thickeners: such as polyurea, silicone oil, polymers, etc.
3. Additives
Additives are used to improve the performance of grease, usually rust inhibitors, antioxidants, extreme pressure additives, preservatives, anti-wear agents, anti-foaming agents, etc.
